Aeration and Slice Seeding in Hanson, MA
When Theresa and Sean reached out to Mighty Lawn in September of 2025 their Hanson lawn was patchy, filled with crabgrass, and had been and had suffered significant drought damage. They told a story about how their lawn had been lush and vibrant that spring, how they were excited when they hired Lawn Doctor to take care of it, and how they were disappointed when their lawn died over the summer. They felt abandoned by their former service provider, who they said did not give them watering guidance that could have prevented their lawn from dying in the summer, and failed to provide a plan to fix their lawn once the damage had occurred.
After an evaluation, Theresa and Sean agreed to have Mighty Lawn perform an aeration and slice seeding project to fix the damaged turf areas. We aerated and slice seeded the 10,000 square foot front yard, and applied roughly 150 pounds of our proprietary sun grass seed mix, consisting of mostly turf type tall fescue. We chose this blend because this lawn is what Alex refers to as a 'solar panel,' a lawn that is tilted toward the sun. This was a particular concern on this lawn because it does not have an irrigation system. The lawn was properly watered manually over the next 25 days using a tripod sprinkler. Each zone was watered for 20 minutes in the morning, and 20 minutes in the afternoon. Starter fertilizer was applied to the lawn after one week, as to allow for the initial seed germination before the introduction of nutrients.
The result was a thick, dark green lawn, consistent predominantly of a drought-resistant strain of turf type tall fescue that should hold up better through the summer of 2026. The before and after pictures displayed show a 33 day difference between the date the project was performed, and the finished result.
